SARONNO INTERNATIONAL

LYRIC COMPETITION GIUDITTA PASTA

The Municipality of Saronno promotes, together with Giuditta Pasta Cultural Foundation and CulturalMente & MusicalMente Association, a great international cultural event.

On May the city of Saronno will host the SARONNO INTERNATIONAL LYRIC COMPETITION, in honour of Giuditta Pasta, a famous singer and lyrical interpreter, to whom the theater is dedicated.

The jury will be of internal celebrity and will select the best singers through a preliminary round and a semi-final.

The final will be performed as a symphonic lyric concert with the participation of Orchestra Lake Como Philarmoniker.

For the winners, there will be a total prize of € 8000; concerts and opera productions are also planned for important European theaters.

The International Lyric Competition, in honour of Giuditta Pasta, was born as a challenge, from the ambitious idea of combining cultural and artistic aims to the creation and development of the image of Saronno city which gave birth to this great lyric interpreter.

The purpose is creating a project that every two years can grow, giving life to a cultural center on our territory.

The reasons that led us to present this project are:

  • create an important cultural event that can encourage and enhance young talents from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds;
  • give homage to an important “Saronnese” citizen, who was able to impose herself on the world’s attention of 1800 for artistic merit, to which the Theater was also given; (??)
  • promote collateral events such as exhibitions, conferences and workshops for people with disabilities;
  • promote the image of Saronno city and of the Public Administration that supports the project, through an international showcase;
  • create an important resource for hotels, clubs and partners in the project, that allows (what?) during the week concerned and not only;
  • live up the town, affecting both day and night bands of the public;
  • involve other associations in the partnership during the dedicated week, to allow each of them, with their own know-how, to contribute to the collateral events (that will develop as a corollary of the central event).
